Why We Started This Scholarship

The Pop-Up Workshop was built on the belief that creativity should be accessible to every child. We know that extracurricular activities aren't always possible for every family, and we never want cost to be the reason a child misses the opportunity to discover a love of making things. The Make More Things Scholarship is our way of opening the studio doors a little wider and investing in the children of our own community.

What is the Make More Things Scholarship?

The Make More Things Scholarship was created to make creative opportunities more accessible to children in our community.

Each scholarship provides one Gerritsen Beach child with the opportunity to attend one weekly Elementary Creative Workshop class for a full 8-week session at The Pop-Up Workshop, with tuition and supplies fully covered.

Our hope is simple: every child deserves a place to create, explore, and feel proud of what they make.

Who Can Be Nominated?

Child should:

  • Live in Gerritsen Beach

  • Be between the ages of 5–11

  • Be able to attend one weekly class throughout the full 8-week session on Mondays

  • Benefit from participating in The Pop-Up Workshop

  • Have a family for whom cost may otherwise be a barrier

Who Can Submit a Nomination?

Anyone.

  • Parent

  • Guardian

  • Grandparent

  • Teacher

  • Coach

  • Neighbor

  • Family friend
